Conservation is a state of harmony between man and earth.
On Uitdrift we are committed to a sustainable ‘green’ lifestyle, reducing our demand on natural resources by making sure that we replace what we use to the best of our ability. We strive to act with integrity and are living consciously with an appreciation and respect towards planet Earth. Our lifestyle on the farm is simplified, resulting in a greater amount of freedom, joy and gratitude towards what we already have. We are continuously learning, experimenting, exploring, committing to increasingly sustainable practices and, above all, loving.
Above all, those living on Uitdrift live as lightly as possible, meeting needs in the present without compromising the needs of future generations, so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy the same high quality of life that we have today.
We, the inhabitants of Uitdrift, undertake to live a life of love which involves shifting our lifestyle away from consumption and toward more sustainable activities, such as
Vegetable garden: We grow our own vegetables and fruit. Garden waste are returned to support healthy soil.
Water conservation: At Uitdrift we collect rainwater. We believe in taking short showers, we wash our dishes in a sink of water and then rinse them and we attempt to cut down on the amount of laundry that we do. We reuse old water to water our plants. Because shifting weather patterns will have serious consequences for the freshwater supply, we decided to construct a small dam for the storage of rainwater runoff.
